Dec 23, 2014

In this special Christmas Episode, Lewis and Tim are joined by Table Talk Radio host Bryan Wolfmueller and Fighting for the Faith host Chris Rosebrough to discuss the theology in their favorite Advent Hymns and anything else that seems worth discussing. Fair warning, this Episode is long, big, and jam packed with Christ FOR You.

Opening music: Listener, "Eyes to the Ground for Change;" August Burns Red, "Carol of the Bells"

Other things: Concordia Chorale, "Savior of the Nations, Come;" Fernando Ortega, "What Child is This?"

Dec 16, 2014

In this episode, Tim has discovered that "It Came Upon the Midnight Clear" and Charles Dickens are not what you think they are.  They then do a bunch of Good Tweet/Bad Tweet. They find some awful (and one good) Christian MeMEs, and then answer some questions from Kris and Michael. Keep sending in your submissions!

Dec 2, 2014

In this episode, Tim and Lewis get a little cranky about being cranky last week. They then talk more about Advent, hit up Good Tweet/Bad Tweet, where they talk more about Advent, and take some personal questions from a few listeners, and answer one more question about Advent. Seriously. It's like a theme. Here's the article Lewis promised you from Mollie Ziegler Hemingway.

Opening music: Listener, "Eyes to the Ground for Change"

Other things: Amos Lee, "Tricksters, Hucksters, and Scamps"; Brown Feather Sparrow, "December Radio"

Closing Music: Jovan Mackenzy, "Reformata"

Nov 25, 2014

In this episode, Tim and Lewis chat about demons, Advent, and the right celebration of Christmas. They then look at what goes wrong in a Christmas Eve service with Good Tweet/Bad Tweet.  They come back from the break, with a little help from Hank Hill, and answer some questions from Stephanie and Charles. We are less mediocre than Table Talk Radio.

(By the way, here's the book we mentioned during the show by Dr. T. David Gordon, Why Johnny Can't Sing Hymns, and his most recent interview on Issues, Etc.)

Opening music: Listener, "Eyes to the Ground for Change"

Other things: Amos Lee, "Tricksters, Hucksters, and Scamps""Holy Ghost Hokey Pokey"; King of the Hill, Season 8, Episode 2; AC/DC, "Shook Me All Night Long"

Nov 18, 2014

In this episode, Tim and Lewis talk about what happens when a pastor introduces things a congregation doesn't know how to deal with. In Good Tweet/Bad Tweet, they have a LOT of questions. They come back from the break with Christian MeMEs and more of your questions from Dominick and Sam. Things go well.

Nov 11, 2014

In this episode, Tim and Lewis talk what it means to be Lutheran (hint: it's the Book of Concord), and then play some Good Tweet/Bad Tweet.  Then they answer questions from Tamara, Julie, Elise, and Karen. It's a good episode with mediocre hosting today.

Opening music: Listener, "Eyes to the Ground for Change"

Other things: Amos Lee, "Tricksters, Hucksters, and Scamps"; Blimey Cow, "In (Everything But) God We Trust;" Rich Mullins, "Here in America"

Nov 7, 2014

In this episode, Tim and Lewis talk Trinity Sunday and engage in heretical analogies before some Good Tweet/Bad Tweet. They then talk at length regarding a 30 minute worship service, actually almost as long as the service itself.

Nov 7, 2014
After a long hiatus, in this episode, Lewis introduces the new Boars cohost, Tim Winterstein, play Good Tweet/Bad Tweet, debate the Cheshire Cat, introduce a new theme song, and discuss youth ministry and confirmation practices. Like J.J. Abrams likes to do with all things "Star", we're rebooting today.

Dear friends, Boars in the Vineyard is on a necessary hiatus at this time. The plan for now is for it to be back at some point in the future. Continue to follow Boars on Twitter, or like it on Facebook, for further updates and information on its return. If you have any comments or questions in the meantime about the show or the Lutheran understanding of Scripture or other topics, please contact Pastor Lewis Polzin at pastor.polzin@gmail.com. Until Boars returns, tune in to piratechristianradio.com to hear more great programming 24/7. The peace of the Lord Christ be with you always!
Nov 7, 2014
In this episode, Lewis and Dan talk about the Noah movie and play good tweet/bad tweet before digging into the Cotton Patch Bible and Word On The Street. They then answer questions about doing greater works than Jesus and God's will for your life.
Nov 7, 2014
In this episode, Lewis and Dan play good tweet / bad tweet and find that songs are sermons and your relationship with God isn't a unique snowflake. They then answer questions about which body of Jesus are we eating and different ways of preaching before heading into Hot Topics where they discuss "Are Lutherans Monergists?" and open air preaching.
Nov 7, 2014
In this episode, Lewis and Dan are joined by Dr. Curtis Leins from the Pirate Christian Radio Conference to discuss some of the essential doctrines that are the foundation of Lutheranism. It's getting mighty academic in the Vineyard y'all.
Nov 7, 2014
In this episode, Lewis and Dan bring back Meology vs.Theology and it's just as terrible as you'd expect. They then do a round of "Hot Topics" where they address different ways to misuse the third use of the law and bad arguments against observing Lent and the liturgical calendar. Warning: This episode is low on preparation and high on sarcasm.
Nov 7, 2014
In this episode, Lewis and Dan roll out the bad bible translations all over again and have some trouble finding verses. They then play Good Tweet / Bad Tweet, where T.U.L.I.P. gets a make over, and they answer the ever troubling question, "What should I preach on Easter?" They then answer questions about 1 John 5:8 and the Son of God movie. No books were burned during this or any other episode.
Nov 7, 2014
In this episode, Lewis and Dan are joined by Pastor Jordan Cooper from Just & Sinner to discuss the differences between the doctrines of grace and the Means of Grace. Our audio might not be the best, but the content is killer.
Nov 7, 2014
In this episode, Lewis and Dan play Good Tweet / Bad Tweet and find that Lutherans are better at theology but Mormons are better at sports. Lewis also loans Dan a soapbox to get on. They then answer questions about temptation without a sinful nature and whether Christ is present in a wrong view of the Lord's Supper.
Nov 7, 2014
In this episode, Lewis and Dan compare strange and terrible Bible translations, then play a round of Good Tweet / Bad Tweet full of big dreams, touchdown dances, and antinomanism. They then answer listener questions about Good Books, Baptizing in Christ's Name, and Ex Opere Operato before another quick run through the Cotton Patch.
Nov 7, 2014
In this episode, Lewis and Dan beg for some Lutheran rap and/or heavy metal, then play Good Tweet/Bad Tweet, where we need Lutherans to be right about justification or we're going to hell. Then in the Hot Topic segment, they discuss whether or not Paul's statement in 1 Corinthians 1:17 means baptism has nothing to do with salvation and the Christian brass of certain Orthodox Priests. No riot gear for us!
Nov 7, 2014
Lewis and Daniel are joined once again by Table Talk Radio host, Evan Goeglein, to play Good Tweet, Bad Tweet where they learn how many stones are too many and that "papist" is a compliment. They then introduce a new segment called "Hot Topic," where they look at an article by Mark Driscoll about Single Pastors and address some of the issues they have with it. All the single pastors, all the single pastors... if you like it, then put a ring on it.
Nov 7, 2014
In this episode, Lewis and Daniel play Meology vs. Theology, where Dan goes way over his time but, clearly, you cannot judge him. They then answer questions about explaining the the Crucifix to someone suffering from Romaphobia and what it means to have Christ in us. Once again, they don't get to Psalm 8, but, of course, you're getting used to that. Hold on to your hats and judge not the Crucifix.
Nov 7, 2014
In this episode, Lewis and Daniel introduce Father Weejus and "Do Business With God," then play Good Tweet / Bad Tweet where false dichotomies abound and (perhaps) Joel Osteen is a Calvinist. They then answer questions about "missional" Lutheran churches and how they talk about homosexuality.
Nov 7, 2014

In this special Christmas Episode, Lewis and Daniel are joined by Table Talk Radio host Evan Goeglein and Fighting for the Faith host Chris Rosebrough to discuss the theology in their favorite Advent Hymns and anything else that seems worth discussing. Fair warning, this Episode is long, big, and jam packed with Christ FOR You.

Music for this episode is by August Burns Red, Red Mountain Church and Concordia.

Nov 7, 2014
In this episode, Lewis and Daniel try to translate evangelical phrases, then play good tweet/bad tweet where they discuss a good death, is God a God of second chances, Jesus/Santa, and argue "it's a religion not a relationship". They then answer questions about what it means to despise baptism and if good works should be done in public or secret before ending with a look at Psalm 7. Warning, we may spoil Santa for the kiddos.
Nov 7, 2014

In this episode, Tim and Lewis talk about the mountains, toy with the government, and then roll into some  Good Tweet/Bad Tweet.  They then answer some questions regarding the Book of Concord, cremation, and calling people "Reformed." They then finish it all up with a little non-Church patriotism.

Opening music: Listener, "Eyes to the Ground for Change"

Other things: Amos Lee, "Tricksters, Hucksters, and Scamps"; Blimey Cow, "In (Everything But) God We Trust;" Rich Mullins, "Here in America"

Closing Music: Jovan Mackenzy, "Reformata"
